Canada seems pretty determined to take home some Gold. At least through their advertisements.
The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games are being advertised all over Canadian television broadcasters. In paticular CTV and ABC have been hosting plenty of Canadian Olympic Games epic commercials. I use the word "epic" because it's these types of commercials that make you believe in what they're telling you.
It seems as though Canadians are pretty set on taking home some Gold medals this time around. Who can blame them though, they have home turf advantage and lets face it, the games take place in the winter. Thats like having a polar bear and a grizzly fight in the Antarctic, the winner seems obvious enough.
Yesterday on the official Olympic Games website it was announced that "Vancouver 2010 sport venues completed on time and within $580-million budget. Vancouver Olympic/Paralympic Centre opens today as a model of sustainable building". $580-million, I mean, wow, thats a lot of toques.
“Today is a proud moment for all of us and would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Government of Canada and the Province of BC,” said John Furlong, VANOC Chief Executive Officer. “After years of teamwork and careful planning, together we’ve reached one of our biggest milestones. It’s wonderful to see athletes now competing and testing these venues while youngsters and adults alike experience the legacies far in advance of the Games.”
Who knows what these winter games will have in store, but what we can expect is a lot more Canadian commercials:
