If you’re the kind of person that always has all of the number 1 seeds going to the Final Four in your March Madness bracket than congratulations because for the first time ever it worked out for you. However, if you’re a punk like me who tries to make what you think are brilliantly insightful picks based on research than you probably only have UCLA in the Final Four and you can see your crumpled up bracket on the floor across your office…because that’s where you threw it when you ripped it off the wall in a fit of rage. Even if your bracket has gone to hell, there’s some amazing basketball to look forward to.
Saturday is going to be a great night for basketball. The early game that tips off at 6:07 p.m. ET features a match-up between UCLA and Memphis. I’m personally pulling for UCLA in this game because I had them winning every bracket I filled out, and I’m somewhat confident that they’ll pull it off. Historically they have gotten the best of Memphis in the NCAA tournament and hopefully that combined with an off night from Derrick Rose will have the Bruins going to the finals
Assuming the first game doesn’t go in to any crazy overtime, North Carolina and Kansas butt heads at 8:47 p.m. ET. This is going to be such a solid game; both of these teams are so good. Then there is the added storyline of UNC coach Roy Williams facing his former team that he last coached in a 2003 championship game loss. Sure the story won’t make much of a difference in the outcome of the game but a little added drama never hurt anyone. I don’t care who wins this game, but I’ll take North Carolina.
Even if you are bitter like I am and never want to hear the word bracket again, enjoy these games. Some people are saying that this is the most talented Final Four in the history of the tournament, and it might be true as every team essentially has three NBA caliber players. It’s crazy to think that the madness is already over. It’s probably one of the most anticipated sporting events and it comes and goes in an instant.
