Blockbuster season's back in full swing after last week's chick-fest with Sex and the SH*TTY's release, and this week sees two great comedies, with The Hulk next week and Wanted the week after. But I'm getting ahead of myself, let's talk about this week's movies...
It seems Hollywood is prepping us for the releases of back-to-back action flicks for the next couple weeks by giving us our comedy options up front. We get a kid-and-adult-friendly comedy in Kung Fu Panda and the Sandler-led comedy Don't Mess with The Zohan.

Kung Fu Panda
Dreamworks, the studio behind Shrekoffers us this great animated tale of a Panda named Po (voiced by Jack Black) who wants nothing more in life than to practice Kung Fu - despite everyone telling him he's too fat and lazy. But what happens when he's the one that every has to rely on?
While the story is an ugly-duckling-esque kinda base, you've got to remember that the kids need a lesson in it - but you can count on there being enough humor for adults that seeing this one with or without the youngin's - and the voice cast is incredible, boasting Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Ian McShane, David Cross, Seth Rogen, Michael Clarke Duncan, James Hong, Randall Duk Kim, and Dan Fogler.

You Don't Mess with The Zohan
I didn't find out until just recently that this flick is a collaboration between former roommates Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow - which means that you take the humor and attitude of Sandler and multiply it by the wit of Apatow and you get a winner without a doubt. Sure, Sandler hasn't quite hit the right notes since his earlier works, and you get the inkling that the trailer holds all the funny bits, but what we've seen is still good enough to head to the theater for.
Sandler plays Zohan, an Israeli counter-terrorist who leaves for New York to achieve his dreams... of being a hair stylist. Can he leave his old ways behind him and adjust to life in the big city?
Some genuine laughs this week, but I'm going to have to go with... Zohan as my pick for the week. I'm not opposed to Dreamworks flicks like Finding Nemo or Shrek, so I might see Kung Fu Panda as a second choice, in the chance that I see two this week. It's a tough call, but laughs are laughs.
So enjoy the movies, head to the theater to get out of the summer heat, and may your popcorn always be buttered....
