Last Thursday we had a chance to hit up the X’08 event in Toronto. With in this three floor event there was one whole floor dedicated to Gears of War 2. On this floor there was basically somewhere around 8 TV & Xbox 360’s playing GOW2 LAN based multiplayer. We jumped right in and had ourselves a few games of Wingman. Wingman is an online mode where there are 5 teams of 2. You have yourself, and your wingman. If one of you goes down a message pops up saying so. Once you’re “downed” you have an opportunity to be saved by your partner. A new feature to GOW2 is when you’re down you still having the opportunity to crawl away. I found this to be very effective, up until an enemy hit me with a new weapon, a hand held turret. Crawling away just doesn’t seem fast enough when you have hundred of bullets smashing in to the ground all around you. All in all the graphics are improved, there’s lots of new content (weapons, game modes, levels, characters) and it’s still the same old gears that we love.
