Appearance:
Pale golden colored ale reminiscent of the jovial monk pictured on the beer carton. Snow white head of extremely fine beaded, creamy dense foam. Highly effervescent throughout tasting, leaving great lacing on the glass.
Smell:
Sprightly aromas of spice and fresh lively malt merrily mingle.
Taste:
Light in body. On the palate, a defining spiciness meets warming alcohol. The middle has more spice delivered in an ebullient manner. Discernible hop rate is low. The finish is of a medium duration with spice to the fore and fine supporting malt marching forward.
Notes:
A top fermented ale with a secondary fermentation in the bottle, leaving a fine yeast sediment neatly compacted on the bottom of the bottle. Brewed using spring water. Recommended serving temperature is 8 to 12 ?C. Brewery established 1894.
